Two Face Federal Drug Charges After Police Seize 10 Million Doses of PCP

The Los Angeles Interagency Metropolitan Police Apprehension Crime Task Force (aka IMPACT) played a part in a recent major drug bust in California. As reported in The LA Times, police recovered approximately $100 million worth of the drug PCP, along with nearly $400,000 in cash and several weapons, after raiding two Los Angeles area storage facilities. Based on a tip from the Drug Enforcement Administration, two individuals were arrested at a UPS location where they were allegedly attempting to ship narcotics. Both pled not-guilty to felony drug charges and are being held on bond. Police believe that there are several more individuals involved in a drug-trafficking ring that provided drugs to cities around the nation. One of them, 55-year-old Darryl Dwayne Burton, had prior drug crime charges.

According to The Chicago Tribune, a Southwest Airlines employee was also recently arrested on PCP-related drug charges, following a federal drug task force investigation into PCP trafficking. He’s currently being held until his upcoming detention hearing, but prosecutors plan to request that he be jailed until his trial, citing flight risk and community safety concerns.
